Supporting our Neighbors in Need: 2025-26 Shelter Season
This winter we’ll again be hosting the Warming Shelter in the Parish Hall providing our unhoused neighbors with a warm, dry and caring place to sleep, with dinner and breakfast—all because of you and this generous community. See below for how you can help!
SCHEDULE
The Warming Shelter will be open from the evening of 3rd of December through the morning of the 1st of May. Christ Church will host for most of that time, with assistance from Trinity Lutheran, which will host from the 22nd of December through the 4th of January, and New Bridges (formerly Twin Towers) Methodist Church, which will host from the 10th through the 24th of February.
WHAT’S NEW?
Case Workers
This year we were able to fund a caseworker who will be on staff during the evenings to help our guests navigate the various support resources available, aiding them to find secure housing, healthcare, transportation, identify services, and other social services to help them get back on their feet.
Laundry/Shower
Shelter guests will be able to launder their clothes and take a shower once a week.
WHAT’S THE SAME?
Funding
The City of Alameda and Christ Church jointly fund the shelter, with the City providing roughly 70% and the parish providing 30% of the needed finance.
Partner
Episcopal Community Services will staff the shelter with knowledgeable, trained caring people, 2 per shift.
Volunteers
Once again, community volunteers will provide hot dinners and bag breakfasts—see link above.
